Landscape Construction Site Operator

Position Overview

The Site Operator is the day-to-day leader on landscape construction projects, responsible for production, quality, safety, and crew coordination in the field. This role sets the tone on site—driving pace, accountability, and craftsmanship—while working closely with Project Managers, designers, surveyors, and inspectors to ensure the landscape is built exactly as intended.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate operators and laborers while maintaining a respectful, productive, and safety-first jobsite.
  • Plan and execute daily work activities, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and trucking.
  • Anticipate needs by reviewing plans, schedules, and scopes before issues impact production.
  • Ensure proper layout, grades, elevations, drainage, and compaction meet design and specification requirements.
  • Coordinate directly with Project Managers, survey crews, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Identify and resolve field issues early, soft subgrades, drainage conflicts, layout discrepancies, or access constraints.
  • Maintain momentum by implementing corrective actions quickly and efficiently.
  • Perform daily safety checks and enforce company and industry safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact and provide clear daily updates on progress, challenges, and resource needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in landscape construction, excavation, site work, or related field  operations.
  • Proven ability to run field operations and lead crews on active jobsites.
  • Strong understanding of landscape construction sequencing, grading, drainage, hardscape, and site utilities.
  • Experience operating and managing heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, GPS-guided equipment).
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape and civil plans, details, grades, and layout documents.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented.
  • Track record of maintaining high productivity while delivering safe, high-quality work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
